This patient had a long history of dental procedures and complications which left her with severe dental phobia, a 15-year-old failed sinus graft and implants, multiple missing teeth, and very loose remaining teeth. Previous dentists had told her that her only choice was a set of removable dentures, which was not an acceptable option for her due to the patient’s severe gag reflex. As a result, the patient felt hopeless and depressed, as if she had no viable options left to restore her teeth. Using our diagnostic workflow, digital and 3-D scanning technology, we developed a treatment plan that would restore the patient’s dentition while simultaneously addressing the patient’s biological, functional, and psychological challenges. With the help of an anesthesiologist, all treatment was done under IV sedation, which helped significantly with the patient’s dental phobia. After reversing her previously failed sinus graft, performing a new one, and allowing adequate time for healing, she received 3 implants in the healed site. Only after these dental implants healed did we remove the remaining hopeless teeth, place two additional implants, and provide the patient with a complete set of temporary teeth on the same day of surgery. The workflow was meticulously planned and staged in such a way that the patient would never be left without front teeth, which would be psychologically damaging. These 5 implants provided support and stabilization for the temporary prosthesis and final teeth, which we delivered 5 months later. This implant solution restored the patient’s chewing function, aesthetics, self-confidence, and, most importantly, the hope that she had previously lost.

This patient suffered from years of dental problems including tooth decay and infections, and he had a history of genetic predisposition to tooth decay and short roots. This left her reliant on a long-span dental bridge that was now failing, and the patient was desperate for a solution that wouldn’t leave her without teeth for a long time and would make her feel youthful and beautiful again. In developing a treatment plan for this patient, we considered her own wishes, along with her complex dental and medical history. Our use of modern technology and steadfast planning allowed us to provide an immediate, functional, and aesthetic solution for a patient who has struggled with her teeth for years. The patient left the surgical appointment with fixed temporary teeth, completely transformed in a single day, allowing her to function and live normally throughout the entire healing process. After several months of healing, the patient received her final zirconia prosthesis, which perfectly matched her smile, and she is so grateful that she sought treatment at our office.
